Brandt has already added so much to our life. One of those things is a knowledge and a love for Science! He was so excited about the transit of Venus and because he was- so were we!! He drove down on a Tuesday from Dayton to share it with it us and had to leave early the next morning to go back to Dayton. We enjoyed the few hours we had with him!!!! Of course on this day it was cloudy and rainy!! Well we drove north hoping to find some sunshine and we did!!!!
Now if you are asking yourself what the transit of Venus is- I can tell you. It is when Venus crosses in front of the sun and the earth at the same time. This happened 8 years ago, but is not going to happen for over another 100 years because of the way earth and venus orbit. Brandt actually created a model to demonstrate this for my kids and why we don't get to see it very often. He saw it 8 years ago while he was in France. So he has this Solar View which allowed us to view it!
We did see it! Venus is just a dot passing accross the sun- but we saw it!! I really thought it was amazing and loved sharing it with Brandt and the kids!!!
On the way home we saw a full Rainbow. Of course Brandt explained why we saw the rainbow and how it can be seen when the sun is at a certain angle- the kids and I just enjoyed witnessing the miracle of the rainbow!!!
(I am getting a new appreciation and a love for Science and even better- so are the kids!)
